Lucinda Kay Boragno | Owner | California Cowgirls Unlimited

A natural-born entertainer, Lucinda Kay Boragno has soared over the years as a songwriter, lyricist, poet, and author. Her county music compositions and other writings have both focused on and been inspired by her life in San Joaquin Valley, California, and she has worked with remarkable names in the music industry—with specific endorsements by singers Tanya Tucker and Dave Somerville. Since 2004, she has also found success as the co-founder and owner of California Cowgirls Unlimited, through which she provides permanent housing for previously abandoned dogs on her sprawling, 100-acre property, where she maintains ranching and farming responsibilities. She started the organization alongside her business partner and childhood neighbor and friend, Gail Jensen Carradine, who has since passed away and was married to the late actor David Carradine, most famous for his roles in “Kung Fu” and the “Kill Bill” films.

Attributing her success to her parents, who instilled strong morals and values that enabled her to keep the right perspective in life, Ms. Boragno was raised with a heart for honesty and treating others the way she wants to be treated. She had a solid educational foundation by earning a Bachelor of Arts from California State University, Fresno. Her late husband, Kevin L. Peachy, was one of the top Hollywood musicians in the area who recorded songs for Motown Records and worked with many major talents, such as Willie Nelson, and served as her manager. She considers the highlight of her career in arts and entertainment was working with industry figures like B.B. King’s drummer, Tony Coleman.

Ms. Boragno had a deep connection with Gail Jensen, with whom she grew up in the same area. Despite Gail being seven years older, they forged a bond that lasted decades. While swimming in a ditch together and admiring the nature all around them, Gail had the idea for California Cowgirls Unlimited, and asked Ms. Boragno to join her in forming the business. Looking toward the future, she plans to continue taking care of her parent’s estate, maintaining her business, and writing songs in order to keep alive the legacy of her husband and her business partner.
